Captions for New York
Artists’ book,Letter Size,50pages,2025
When I first arrived in New York, I planned exhibitions to see and places to visit, walking more than 20,000 steps a day and photographing everything as if the city might disappear if I didn’t.
As the images accumulated, they began to reveal not just New York, but the way I look at it—an instinctive, slightly obsessive, and personal way of seeing that quietly shaped my creative habits.
Each photograph in this project is paired with four lines: a description, a self-mocking comment, a response, and a humorous title. Presented as an artist’s book in the form of American-style single-panel comics, the work functions as a visual diary—part observation, part complaint, and part love letter to life in a foreign city.
